Bhutan is a destination like no other. After your plane lands in between two 18,000 feet mountains, your driver and guide will greet you and take you to the capital, Thimphu. Spend a day or two exploring this tiny city before embarking on a journey through the mountains, to remote and spectacular villages.
Visit remote monasteries and temples, hike through lush valleys and enjoy meals in remote tea houses. Experience the local food markets and enjoy a game of archery with the locals! Once you’ve well and truly acclimatised to the altitude, hike up to Tiger’s Nest, the most revered temple in Bhutan, at over 3000 metres and perched on the face of a mountain.
With very strict controls over tourism, all visitors must join a tour, either privately or in a group. Travel is by vehicle with a driver and guide. Accommodation included in Bhutan’s daily fee is typically comfortable and welcoming 3* hotels. Upgrades to more luxurious properties are available.

- A cooking class in a family home in Thimphu. We asked our guide if we could do a cooking class, and the next thing we know, our driver took us to his family home and his parents taught us to cook the local dishes and we then enjoyed dinner with them.
